ok, it seems this device itself isn’t working anymore, no “on” led signal, not even in Windows.

# sysctl dev.hdac.1.pindump=1

#45

John , does this output tell something?

#46

Rod, I’ve downloaded both Pavucontrol and Asmixer to discover why by using the usb sound stick (provided a working one meantime) I’m not getting sound from a multimedia application playing audio/video like VLC , while I can hear system sounds. Running Pavucontrol, the page “application audio” remains empty

#47

point FF or Falkon at any youtube music video, and see

#48

yes Rod, audio from the web contents works.
Look: only VLC seems on mute (it is in active audio mode anyway), while Lumina Media Player goes well.

#49

vlc has issues on FreeBSD, try “baka-mplayer”

#50

ok, thanks first of all for suggesting baka, I’ve just found the reason for VLC not playing audio: the default audio output setting was on “automatic”, then I tested among the other available items and found that audio Open Sound System output is the choice which make it work right

#51

Had the same problem… Each reboot the default changed back to the “wrong” device and the “set default” button in the Lumina Mixer would not save the change… Ended up editing the .conf file in nano… Works great now though!
