[SOLVED] Terrible fullscreen video performance using "intel" driver over "modesetting" on intel HD 3000

I switched from modesetting to intel to enable 3d acceleration on my thinkpad, and now fullscreen video performs far worse. Is there a fix or workaround for this?

did you keep the /etc/X11/xorg.conf or delete it?

kept it, and fixed while keeping 3d.

just added Load “i965” to the modesetting .conf and it works fine.

do this.

logout. CTRL-ALT-F9

login as root,—> mv /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/X11.xorg.conf.intel

CTRL-ALT-F9 bottom right on PCDM, refresh PCDM, and login.

This puts the intel driver doing the work

if doesn’t work, mv xorg.conf.intel back into place

good to know, but since it’s working with 3d accel on modesetting I’m not too keen on changing back. The Intel driver seems kind of buggy in comparison reading around the forums
