Project Trident Release / No Sound

#1

Hi all,

After quite some time of absence here ( I admit it was the PC-BSD > TrueOS > Project Trident Circus in Kombination with issues in stability etc.) I have decided to check out the new release… So far everything looks fine and no major issues were encountered by me during installation… The only thing is, I have no sound! Hardware is detected an I can hear that the speaker gets kind of activated , but no sound at all…

dmesg | grep Audio

hdaa0: ada0 at ahcich1 bus 0 scbus1 target 0 lun 0
hdaa1: <Intel (0x2883) Audio Function Group> at nid 1 on hdacc1

How can I solve that one?

Thx

#2

which program are you trying to get sound out of?

#3

Hey Rod, nice to see you are still here
Chromium, but also the system sound check fails…

#4

you have sound, just not with chromium.

create a ticket on https://github.com/project-trident/trident-core

#5

I downloaded a Video and I confirm that I have also no Sound in VLC or the Lumina Mediaplayer…
Also no sound when playing MP3, so its not a codec problem.

When I do the soundcheck available in the configuration dialog, I hear a kind of short buzz, but thats it!

#6

type about, and post results.

i have sound in everything but chromium.

in vlc, are you sure the video has sound?

Yes, I am sure the video has audio, but my speakers stay mute

I also did a installation of “Project Trident Release” on my main workstation and here sound is working fine, except as you already said in chromium!

taken from telegram

Just in case, if someone has an issue with audio output in chrome 68, download audiopick chrome extension. I thought that was the Chromium glitch, but looks like mentioned extension was missing

just installed it. now chromium has sound

#10

(That’s awesome! It takes an extension for a browser to get audio…)
