Boot environment

I have a couple boot environments and some are many gb is size and some are only a few.

Can anyone tell me what would make one so much bigger than the other and what deleting and old one, especially one as large as 30-40gb removes?

I’m assuming it isn’t the user’s home data. Would it be the installed programs that bump the size up so much?

Thank you.

# zfs list -t snapshot

Makes sense, thank you. Deleting snapshots does not delete live data, right?
